๐ฉธ Empowering Girls: Celebrating Menstruation and Inclusion! ๐
Today, on World Menstruation Day, let us take a moment to recognize and celebrate the natural fact of life that affects over 1.8 billion girls and women worldwide – menstruation. It is a vital part of a woman’s reproductive journey and should be acknowledged with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, millions of menstruators face barriers in managing their monthly cycles in a healthy and dignified way, particularly girls and women with disabilities.
In commemoration of this important day, we proudly collaborated with several impactful organizations -Rubies Development Foundation,Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative, Women and Girls with Albinism Network, Prime Diamond Initiative for Community Health, and Inclusive Voice for Women and Youth Initiative. Together, we aimed to empower and support girls by executing an engaging and enlightening session at the School of the Blind in Jabi, FCT Abuja.
During this session, we focused on educating the students about menstruation, personal hygiene, and the importance of managing their menstrual cycles with confidence and dignity. By addressing their unique needs and challenges, we aimed to break down barriers and ensure that no one is left behind. Our commitment to inclusivity was underscored by the motto, “Nothing about us, without us.”
We firmly believe that everyone deserves access to proper menstrual hygiene management, regardless of their circumstances or abilities. Therefore, we provided the students with sanitary pads, ensuring they have the necessary resources to manage their periods comfortably and hygienically. By doing so, we hope to empower these incredible young individuals to pursue their dreams without fear or discomfort.
Inclusion for all is at the core of our mission. We strive to create a world where every girl, regardless of disability, can participate fully in society and live up to her true potential. Let us continue to break down barriers, challenge stigmas, and support all menstruators in their journey towards empowerment and success.
Together, we can create a future where every girl feels proud, confident, and unimpeded by menstruation. Join us in celebrating World Menstruation Day and supporting the empowerment of every girl child. ๐๐ช
