Law Day 2025 – Shining Light on Justice & Inclusion

For many Persons with Albinism (PWA) in Nigeria, the sun burns deeper on their skin, myths and stereotypes weigh on their dignity, and justice often feels out of reach. Despite legal frameworks that promise protection, stigma and exclusion persist, affecting not just their safety, but their confidence and well-being.

This year’s Law Day 2025 took a bold step forward to change that narrative by raising awareness and promoting justice, inclusion, and climate resilience for Persons with Albinism.

The Intervention

From October 1st to 15th, 2025, the project, organized by Same As You Foundation with support from the French Embassy in Nigeria implemented a series of impactful activities aimed at promoting inclusion and human rights.

In support of this initiative, Inclusive Voice for Women and Youth Initiative (IVWYI) contributed by purchasing and donating sunscreen products to enhance skin protection for participants and promote inclusive healthcare access.

Key Activities Included:
• School Outreach at Actus Dei International School and Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha
• Media Engagements on Rights, Inclusion, and Climate Justice via ABS Radio 88.5 FM and Sapientia Radio 95.3 FM
• Workshop on Human Rights, Inclusion & Climate Justice for Persons with Albinism at Kodex Africa, Awka
• Free sunscreen distribution and professional skin analysis
• Storytelling, advocacy, and legal awareness sessions

The project fostered community awareness, legal consciousness, and health protection for Persons with Albinism by:
• Increasing public understanding of albinism-related rights and needs.
• Encouraging empathy, acceptance, and social inclusion in schools and communities.
• Enhancing collaboration between grassroots organizations and international partners.

Why It Matters

True justice is not complete until it protects everyone. By supporting this initiative, Inclusive Voice for Women and Youth Initiative reaffirmed its commitment to building a Nigeria where inclusion, dignity, and equality are not just ideals but everyday realities.
