Menstrual Health & Inclusion Project – Dignity for Every Girl

Every year on World Menstruation Day, we raise our voices to celebrate a natural reality that touches the lives of over 1.8 billion girls and women worldwide – menstruation. More than a biological process, it is a matter of dignity, health, and equal opportunity.

Yet, millions of menstruators, especially girls and women with disabilities continue to face obstacles in managing their periods safely, hygienically, and confidently. These barriers go beyond access to sanitary products; they reflect broader issues of inclusion, empowerment, and human rights.

The Intervention
In commemoration of this global day, IVWYI partnered with:

• Rubies Development Foundation
• Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative
• Women and Girls with Albinism Network
• Prime Diamond Initiative for Community Health

Together, we hosted an enlightening session at the School of the Blind, Jabi, FCT Abuja, where we:

• Educated students on menstruation, hygiene, and self-care.
• Addressed the unique menstrual health challenges faced by girls with disabilities.
• Distributed sanitary pads, ensuring immediate, practical support for healthy and dignified menstrual management.

• Knowledge & Confidence: Equipped girls with information to manage menstruation without fear or shame.
• Health & Hygiene: Improved menstrual management practices through education and provision of pads.
• Inclusion: Recognized and addressed the specific needs of girls with disabilities, ensuring no one is left behind.
